  • The Umbral Ring No.1 was the first iteration of the Umbral collection, before the development of Umbral No.2. It features jadeite from Chiapas, mahogany obsidian from Hidalgo, and quartz from Guerrero.

Umbral, or threshold, suggest transformation and transition, reflecting the integration of metal and stone in this design.

Taxco, Mexico, became a renowned center for silversmithing from the 20s-70s. Silver, sourced from local mines, was highly valued for its economic and cultural significance. Skilled artisans crafted jewelry and decorative objects using traditional Mexican techniques. Much of this work was sent across Mexico and exported internationally, establishing Taxco’s reputation as a hub for exceptional silver. Notable silversmiths from this period include Antonio Pineda, William Spratling, Los Castillo, Matilde Poulat, and Enrique Ledesma, the latter inspiring the Umbral collection. Ledesma’s pieces are known for their sculptural elegance and seamless integration of silver with stones like onyx and turquoise, with metal flowing naturally around carefully inlaid stones.
