Inspired by the use of a particular motif on sculptures and illustrations of vessels, deities, and even architecture in Mesoamerican culture, it features a circle surrounded by four smaller circles at the top and bottom. This motif appears in the Sun God Kinich Ahau temple in Campeche, on a Mixtec-Zapotec-Nahua gold necklace with turtle shell motifs, on the Señor 8 Temblor found in a Zapotec urn in Monte Albán, on a Mayan incense burner from Chiapas, and in a codex-style vase with scenes reminiscent of Mesoamerican manuscripts. The beads surrounding the setting act as pilares, or pillars, supporting and framing the deep subtly hidden red garnets.
