This necklace draws inspiration from the double headed serpent, a ceremonial ornament from the Mexica that embodied their understanding of duality, where opposites were not seen as contradictions but as complementary forces creating balance and harmony. In this culture, the serpent symbolizes both earthly and celestial powers, uniting opposing energies. The original was carved from cedar and inlaid with turquoise and red spiny oyster shell, with parts once gilded to enhance its visual impact. This piece reimagines that symbol in precious metals, now made in solid gold and silver with or witout shimmering diamond eyes.
