Utilizing materials used in Mexican craftsmanship, reviving the use of volcanic rock from the Popocatépetl, a volcano in México City, rosewood from the state of Guerrero, abalone shell from the coasts of Baja California, mahogany obsidian from Querétaro, and silver which México is the major producer of. It honors the utilization of volcanic rock, a revered resource among Mesoamerican cultures like the Maya, Olmec, and Aztec, used to construct pyramids, sculptures, and ceremonial artifacts. It pays tribute to the use of rosewood, utilized by skilled silversmiths from Taxco during the 1920s to the 1970s and their integration into jewelry and objects d'art. It recuperates the use of shell, common in ancient Mexican cultures, encompassing both practical and symbolic purposes, from art and adornment to religion and trade. And admiration for obsidian, prized for its sharpness and cutting ability, used to create blades, knives, and arrowheads. All these materials play a role in the rich artistic traditions of México, contributing to the country’s cultural heritage.

  • For cleaning brass, brush lime + baking soda on the metal plate, be mindful not to brush the mixture on any of the other materials. Wipe any residue with a wet towel or qtip, pat dry and let it bask in the sunlight to dry. You can use the steel wood provided for a satin finish. Wood is an organic material and will change color over time, we personally think the patina these pieces get when handled gives them character.

  • Every piece is hand made to order in our studio, please allow 3-5 weeks for your piece to be made.
