A gold pendant and a finely carved shell pectoral, both shaped like a cut shell and traditionally linked to the wind deity, inspired this necklace. Known as ehecacozcatl, or wind jewel, this type of shell ornament was a symbol closely associated with wind. In Mexica iconography, the shell represents the deity’s connection to Quetzalcoatl and his role as the god of wind and air, associated with agriculture, rain, clouds, and the cardinal directions.
