Native to the region of Mesoamerica is the cacao tree. The Aztecs believed that cacao beans were a gift to the gods and they elaborated a strong drink mixed with spices called "xocolatl" or chocolate. The state of Tabasco, Mx, even though not a strong producer of cacao in the world, it is the leading producer in Mexico, close to reaching a century in the production of handmade chocolate, "Hacienda La Luz" is one of the few producers.
